In this project, the new approach of statistical processing of natural languages was applied to Turkish. At the time, research on this subject was being conducted with some common languages; however, no such study existed for Turkish yet.
Based on a comprehensive literature review conducted by the project members, an infrastructure for statistical processing of Turkish was created and a program was developed. The design, implementation and testing of the program were completed, laying the groundwork for future statistical NLP research in Turkish.
